Write-Trak councelling
Lorna has been working for Write-Trak as a tutor for over 20 years and has two roles within our company – one as a tutor and one as a counsellor.
She is a fully qualified person-centred counsellor with an Honours degree in Childhood Studies, Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Member of the British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
To help our young people, we offer:
- Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) – accepting and valuing them.
- Congruence – being genuine and real, allowing the students to build a trusting relationship
- Empathic Understanding – seeing their viewpoints as if we were one of them
When they attend counselling sessions, they’re encouraged to bring their own issues to each session – the counselling is led by our them and not direct by us.
Many students with no prior knowledge of counselling believe that we will help with their problems. As a person-centered counsellor, Lorna will help them to explore their own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour and world-view, so that they can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.
Discovering their own abilities
During therapy, at times Lorna will help students to realise what resources and support are available so that they can work through their own issues, build self-confidence and appreciate that there are always options. We believe that students are the experts on themselves, as no-one else knows exactly what it is like to be them.
All of our students are able to choose the method of counselling that suits them best. Walking and Talking Therapy (which is the most popular), via Zoom or telephone
